« Vingt-quatre personnes, dont six femmes, ont été tuées dans cette incursion des ADF » dans le village de Makugwe, en territoire de Beni au Nord-Kivu, a déclaré à l’AFP Roger Wangeve, président de la société civile locale.
En séjour dans ce village, le député provincial Saidi Balikwisha a lui évoqué un bilan de « 23 personnes tuées ». Cet élu a plaidé pour une augmentation des « effectifs militaires bien dotés et bien équipés, bien traités » pour espérer être en mesure « d’anticiper les attaques de l’ennemi ».
Selon Roger Wangeve, parmi les victimes figurent 17 personnes qui se trouvaient « dans une petite buvette où elles prenaient la bière ». Les ADF « les ont toutes exécutées », a-t-il dit.
Au moins sept maisons d’habitation ont été incendiées, trois pharmacies et 11 boutiques pillées, tandis que le nombre « de civils emmenés en brousse n’est pas encore connu », a ajouté M. Wangeve. « Nous regrettons et nous nous posons la question : comment est-ce que cela peut être possible de tuer la population à quelques mètres du campement militaire ? », s’est-il interrogé.
Interrogé par l’AFP, le colonel Charles Omeonga, administrateur du territoire de Beni, a indiqué que les forces armées étaient « à la poursuite de l’ennemi » qui, selon lui, s’est « caché dans la population ».
Les ADF, rebelles musulmans d’origine ougandaise, sont actifs dans le nord du Nord-Kivu et le sud de la province voisine de l’Ituri. Cette faction armée, présentée par le groupe djihadiste État islamique (EI) comme sa branche en Afrique centrale, est l’un des groupes les plus meurtriers dans la région orientale de la RDC.
Leur dernière action d’envergure remonte au 15 janvier lorsqu’au moins 14 personnes avaient été tuées et 63 autres blessées dans un attentat à la bombe dans une église pentecôtiste (protestante évangélique).
Les ADF ont été placés en 2021 par les États-Unis dans leur liste des « organisations terroristes étrangères », en lien avec l’EI.

L’Afrique du Sud fait partie des quelques pays du continent ayant résisté aux pressions occidentales visant à condamner la Russie et a défendu sa position neutre concernant le conflit en Ukraine.
S’exprimant sur les enjeux de cette rencontre, Naleda Pandor a décrit la Russie comme un « partenaire précieux » de l’Afrique du Sud : « Nos pays partagent une relation économique bilatérale croissante, tant en termes de commerce que d’investissements. Cependant, je suis d’avis que nos deux pays peuvent et doivent faire davantage pour développer et capitaliser sur les opportunités d’accroître notre coopération dans la sphère économique. » a-t-elle déclaré.
L’Afrique du Sud a récemment pris la présidence des BRICS, qui compte parmi ses membres le Brésil, la Russie, l’Inde et la Chine. Ce groupement vise à promouvoir le multilatéralisme.
« Pour nous, le multilatéralisme est au cœur des plus grandes questions auxquelles le monde est confronté aujourd’hui. Davantage d’efforts devraient être consacrés à la promotion de la paix et de la sécurité, du commerce équitable et des droits de l’homme, à l’éradication de la faim, à la prévention des épidémies, à la lutte contre le changement climatique et à la protection de l’environnement. Toutes ces questions requièrent une coopération mondiale, car elles dépassent le cadre des pays et des cultures individuelles. » a ajouté Naledi Pandor, ministre sud-africaine des Affaires étrangères.
La semaine dernière, l’Afrique du Sud a annoncé que sa flotte navale organiserait des exercices maritimes conjoints de 10 jours avec les marines russe et chinoise au large de la ville portuaire de Durban et de Richards Bay en février

We have proudly organized and hosted the 1st edition of the Forum Africa & US: economy culture and education at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington D.C. on January 20th, 2023.
Guinea was the Country Guest of Honor of this edition. Indeed, the first counsellor of the Republic of Guinea in Washington D.C and the diplomatic members of the personnel of the embassy attended the Forum.
Mr Mohamed Lamine Solano, as the first counsellor, gave the opening speech.

Outside of Engineering, Mamadou is a very passionate nonprofit leader and currently serves as the President of GAED, a 501c3 Non-Profit Organization offering educational and economic development opportunities for university students of low-income backgrounds Guinea-Conakry, West Africa.Additionally, Mamadou partners with organizations and colleges to host engineering related workshops to help students majoring in an engineering discipline better prepare for entering the workforce after graduation.

He received an M.A. and a Ph.D. from Northwestern University in History on a Fulbright Scholarship. He majored in African History and double minored in Middle Eastern Studies and African American Studies with Mass Communication and Political Science as his research-related fields. Camara earned a Diplôme d’Études Supérieures (DES) from the Gamal Abdel Nasser University of Conakry (IPGANC, Guinea) where he double majored in History and Philosophy. He also received an Advanced Professional Degree in Journalism from the Centre d’Étude des Sciences et Techniques de l’Information (CESTI), University of Dakar (Senegal).
Professor Camara worked at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Florida (2003-2016), where he also served as Director of the McNair Scholars Program, Vice Speaker and then Speaker of the Faculty Senate, and Associate Vice President for Academics. In 2008 he was voted Outstanding Researcher of the Year in the Department of Humanities & Social Sciences. In 2009 he received Embry-Riddle’s Outstanding Teacher of the Year Award.
Prior to coming to the United States for his doctoral education, Camara worked as a lecturer and associate chair of the Department of Philosophy at the University of Conakry, a journalist for the National Radio Television Network of Guinea, a speechwriter for the Press Bureau of the Presidency of the Republic of Guinea, and the president of the University Press of Conakry.
Professor Camara is the author of seven books and numerous book chapters and peer-reviewed articles on African studies, with a focus on political history, political communication and journalism; media, culture, and society; philosophy, religion, and spirituality in African civilization; politization of the military and militarization of the state; human security; and the question of regional integration in intra-African relations. His books include: Health and Human Security in the Mano River Union: Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea, and Côte d’Ivoire (2020); Historical Dictionary of Guinea (5th Edition, Revised and Expanded) (2014); Is There a Distinctively African Way of Knowing (a Study of African Blacksmiths, Hunters, Healers, Griots, Elders, and Artists): Knowing and Theory of Knowledge in the African Experience (2014); Political History of Guinea since World War Two (2014); The Development of a Trans-National Region in West Africa: Transcending the Politics of Sovereign Nation States (2010); Le pouvoir politique en Guinée sous Sékou Touré (2007); and His Master’s Voice: Mass Communication and Single-Party Politics in Guinea under Sékou Touré (2005). Professor Camara’s current research centers on three collective books: Citizen Contract and Transformational Governance in Guinea; Transcendental Africanity and the Resurgence of Afrophobia in the 21st Century; and Religion and Spirituality in Africa’s Struggle against Meta-imperialism from the Cold War to the Global War on Terror.
Professor Camara is the founding president of the Africa Renewal Foundation, a non-profit organization whose mission is to engage the African Diaspora in the promotion of leadership and governance, and innovation and entrepreneurship in Africa.
